Dishwasher Repair β€” Book a Visit Today

A dishwasher fails quietly. You open the door and the dishes are gritty, or there's an inch of gray water sitting over the filter. Hard water is the usual villain out here β€” mineral scale on the heating element, chalky spray arm holes, a clogged filter that never got rinsed. Other times it's a drain pump jammed with a fruit pit, a worn door latch, a control board that won't start a cycle, or a leaking door seal. Our visit starts with a drain and fill test, then we pull the lower rack and filter to see where water is actually going. We explain what we find before we touch anything. We repair all major brands as an independent shop. Call us and we'll set a window that works.

Dishwasher Repair β€” residential dishwasher being serviced

The dishwasher symptoms we hear most

  • Dishes come out with sandy grit on them Clogged filter, blocked spray arm holes, or heavy mineral scale
  • There's standing water in the bottom every morning Drain pump obstruction, kinked drain hose, or failed check valve
  • It runs forever and never finishes Heating element or thermistor not reaching cycle temperature
  • Water on the floor by the left corner Door gasket, tub seal, or a leaking hose clamp under the base
  • Press start and nothing happens at all Door latch switch, control board, or lost power at the junction box

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call β€” sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the lower rack and lift out the cylinder filter β€” rinse the mesh under hot tap water and look for glass chips or seeds.
  • 2Spin both spray arms by hand to be sure they turn freely, and hold one up to the light to check for plugged holes.
  • 3Look under the sink and make sure the drain hose isn't crushed behind a trash can or clogged at the disposal inlet.
  • 4Open and close the door firmly, then check the breaker panel for a tripped kitchen circuit before you assume the machine is dead.

Dishwasher Repair β€” quick answers

Why does my dishwasher smell sour?

Food sludge builds up in the filter, the sump, and along the door gasket. Rinse the filter, wipe the gasket folds, and run a hot cycle empty. If the odor returns within days, the drain hose or sump may be holding standing water.

Is a leak always the door seal?

No. Water can escape from a cracked tub, a loose hose clamp, the pump housing, or a worn seal on the wash motor. We run the machine with the lower panel off and watch where the drip starts. That tells us the part.

Can hard water really break a dishwasher?

It shortens the life of things. Scale coats the heating element so the water never gets hot enough, plugs spray arm jets, and stiffens valves. Regular descaling helps. Once a valve or element is fouled, replacement is usually the honest fix.

Should I repair or replace an older unit?

Depends on what failed. Pumps, valves, latches, and heating elements are common repairs on a machine with a sound tub and rack system. A cracked tub or a dead control board on a very old unit tips the math toward replacement.

How long does a typical visit take?

Most diagnostics take under an hour, including a drain and fill test. If the part is a common one we carry, the repair often happens the same visit. Less common boards or pumps may need an order and a second trip.

Do I need to empty the dishwasher first?

Please do, and pull anything out from under the sink. We need clear access to the drain hose, the shutoff, and the front panel. A towel-dry floor helps too, since we may have to slide the unit forward.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call us or fill out the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Noise, leak, error code, smell of burning. Small details help us load the right parts on the van.

  2. Step 2

    We come look

A technician arrives at your home and tests the machine instead of guessing. You hear what failed, what it takes to fix, and what we'd do if it were our own kitchen.

  3. Step 3

    Repair and check

Many parts ride with us, so common failures get handled the same visit. Harder parts we order. Then we run the appliance through a cycle and confirm the problem is actually gone.

Why homeowners call us

  • Western conditions, plainlyHard well water scales up dishwasher jets and water heater lines. Summer heat pushes refrigerator compressors hard. Winter garages freeze washer valves. We see those patterns weekly and check for them before chasing something exotic.
  • Brand independentWe are not tied to any manufacturer. That means we work on the mixed lineup most homes actually have: one brand of range, another of laundry, a fridge someone bought used. Same technician, same visit.
  • Steady, not rushedRushing is how a diagnosis goes wrong. We take the time to pull the panel, test the part, and read the board. If a repair does not make sense for the age of the machine, we say that out loud.
  • Straight schedulingYou get a real appointment window and a heads-up when the technician is on the way. Rural addresses and long mountain driveways are normal for us. Tell us about the gate or the gravel and we'll plan for it.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more β€” as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so β€” often on the phone.
